Brampton announces Pride 2024 events starting in June

The City of Brampton will kick off this year’s official Pride celebrations on Sunday, June 2 with a main stage events at Garden Square featuring a wide range of talent from the region’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

According to a press release from the city, the festivities will include performances by Canadian Drag Race contestants Aurora Matrix and Jada Shada Hudson, headlined by Ontario-based R&B artist Witch Prophet – as well as numerous local food vendors offering the best. that Brampton has to offer.

“I’m proud to celebrate Pride 2024 with an exciting event that brings together Brampton’s vibrant 2SLGBTQIA+ community… Connect with local organizations and enjoy the delicious offerings from our food partners as we come together to celebrate diversity, inclusivity and love” , Brampton Brown Mayor Patrick said in an official statement.

This year’s Pride festivities will not take place on June 2, as a prelude will be held by the Brampton Arts Organization (BAO) on May 30. The event, entitled Crocheting Our Colours, will focus on engaging the queer community while teaching introductory crochet and craft skills to those who attend.

Other festivities include the Rainbow Road Game Night, a celebration of the queer community through board games and video games, which will take place on June 5 at the Cyril Clark Branch Library. In addition to Pride Month-specific events, there will still be regularly scheduled programs such as Pride Book Club, which takes place each month at the Mount Pleasant Village Branch Library.

To close out the season on July 4, The Gathering and the Brampton Library will host an outdoor showcase titled Embrace: Navigating Culture and LGBTQ2S+ Realities. The event is organized in partnership with Malton Neighborhood Services’ Black Family Support Program and focuses on social issues within Brampton communities.
