Former hospital star Johnny Wactor tragically dies at the age of 37

Johnny Wactor, best known for his role as Brando Corbin General Hospital died at the age of 37. From January 2020 to September 2022, the actor played the mechanic whose romance with Sasha Gilmore made them a popular couple. In addition to the soap opera, he also starred in Army women And Siberia. The actor’s mother, Scarlett, broke the news of his death to TMZ.

According to TMZ, Wactor was murdered in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 25. The actor was with a colleague in downtown Los Angeles when they saw three men trying to steal an inverter from Johnny’s car.

The actor did not confront them or attempt to fight them, but the men shot him before fleeing the scene. Police and paramedics arrived on the scene around 3am. Wactor was rushed to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police have not yet released any descriptions of the suspects, but an investigation is underway. The star’s mother said she “hopes they will be found soon.”

In addition to his mother, Scarlett, Wactor is also survived by two younger brothers, Lance and Grant. Scarlett told the news station that her son was “a loving young man” and that “his death leaves a huge hole in the family’s hearts.”

Sunday afternoon, as news spread of the actor’s death, his General Hospital co-stars expressed their condolences.

Nancy Lee Grahn tweeted:

Laura Wright posted on X:

Heartbreaking. What an incredible man. Deep love and prayers to Johnny’s family.

Sofia Mattsson, who played his on-screen wife, posted a series of photos of Sasha and Brando on Instagram. In the caption she wrote: “My heart is so completely broken…Johnny was the absolute best. So authentic. So caring. Incredibly hardworking and humble. With a big heart that spread so much kindness and joy.”

The soap opera community has lost another talented actor. Our condolences go out to Wactor’s family and friends.
