House Minority Whip Katherine Clark, a Democrat from Massachusetts, speaks at a roundtable on abortion rights in Phoenix on May 30, 2024.

Democrats from across the country continue to focus on Arizona’s abortion laws ahead of this year’s elections. House Minority Whip Katherine Clark, a Democrat from Massachusetts, visited the crucial battleground state on Thursday.

Clark joined Arizona Congressman Greg Stanton and leaders of several Arizona abortion rights groups for a roundtable discussion focused on reproductive health issues.

“It’s all on the ballot here in Arizona, with the ballot initiative that you have that will protect reproductive health care and also the crucial elections from the president to the Senate, to the House of Representatives and local and state elections,” Clark said. “After being here a short time, I am confident that Arizona voters will understand that their personal freedom is at stake.”

Democrats are hopeful that a potential ballot measure to enshrine the right to abortion in the Arizona Constitution will drive voters to the polls in November.

Clark is one of several prominent Democrats who recently visited Arizona to speak about abortion. Vice President Kamala Harris, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Senator Mark Kelly have each held reproductive rights events in the state in recent weeks.
