Tina Knowles Defends Kelly Rowland After Viral Red Carpet Dispute: ‘Live Her Best Life’

Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, shows her support for Kelly Rowland.

On Thursday, May 23, Knowles shared a video of Rowland and Joe Jonas posing together on the red carpet after a video of Rowland speaking to a security guard at the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival went viral earlier in the week.

She captioned the post: “And just like that she @kellyrowland graces another carpet with her amazing glorious beauty, class and grace!!!! Sipping champagne and living her best life❤️❤️❤️❤️This just goes to show that one crazy monkey , don’t stop with no-show!!! on to bigger and better things❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.”

On May 21, Rowland made headlines when videos emerged of her having a heated argument with a female security guard at the Cannes Film Festival, held at the Palais des Festivals.

Rowland, who walked the ‘Marcello Mio’ red carpet, was seen walking up the stairs on her own. As she climbed the stairs, a woman stood behind her and reached out to Rowland’s back.

After looking down for a moment, Rowland turned and started talking to the guard. During one of their conversations, Rowland was seen pointing at the security guard.

In an interview with the Associated Press shared on the outlet’s Instagram, Rowland said she “stood by my position.”

“The woman knows what happened, I know what happened,” she told the AP at the 2024 amfAR Gala, another event in Cannes, on May 23. “And I have a limit. And I stick to those boundaries. And that’s it.”

She added that “there were other women on that carpet who didn’t look exactly like me and they weren’t yelled at, pushed away or told to get off.

“And I stuck to my guns and she felt like she had to stick to her guns,” she said. “But I stuck to my guns. And that was it.”

TODAY.com reached out to the Cannes Film Festival for comment but did not hear back.

The Cannes red carpets are known for their strict dress codes and timelines, Vogue reports, but it is unclear whether these were the issues at stake during the exchange.
