Bringing services to the people of Merebank

The Merebank Clinic Committee’s commitment to bringing services to the residents of Merebank and their families at home has been a success.

They secured the use of a mobile unit from the Ministry of Interior to process ID applications for community members in need of such services.

The committee’s Rishi Sewsunker explained that Merebank Clinic was expecting a flood of new patients as National Health Insurance kicks in, and by then everyone will need to have their ID, correct proof of address and contact details registered before receiving any treatment.

“The Merebank Clinic Committee is proud to have confirmed 60 ID applicants with many more to go. Anyone needing to apply for an ID or passport should go to the nearest Ministry of Home Affairs or apply online as the mobile unit is fully staffed for the rest of the year,” Sewunker said.

He urged those without IDs, especially Grade 12 students who will need them to progress to tertiary education, to apply for their IDs as soon as possible.
