More nurses and midwives are needed to staff new hospital beds – INMO

Midlands hospitals will receive 168 new acute beds between now and 2031.

Additional nurses and midwives are needed to staff the planned new hospital beds.

That is the call from the INMO, which says the 3,352 newly announced acute beds are only one piece of the puzzle.

Of these, 168 will be intended for the three hospitals in the interior.

The beds are due to come into use between now and 2031, in an effort to tackle persistent overcrowding in hospitals.
