Sessions not to be missed: Day one

No two event sessions are ever the same, and our agenda is packed with opportunities for leading industry minds to share their insight and expertise on some of the biggest challenges currently facing the food and drink sector.

Food Safety

Our first panel session of the event will feature a collection of experts reveal the most worrying food security threats they see on the horizon in 2025 and beyond, and explore the potential challenges and emerging risks arising from global environmental change, advances in biotechnology and shifts in consumer behavior. The debate will also delve into how these factors can influence food contamination, disease outbreaks and supply chain vulnerabilities. Panelists will also examine the readiness of current food safety systems to adapt and respond to these future threats, and provide insight into proactive strategies and innovations. required to ensure food integrity in the coming years.

With the Vice President of Global Quality & Food Safety at Barilla, Senior Manager of Food Safety and Quality at Walmart and the Global Director of Food Safety at ADM already committed to speaking, this session will provide an eye-opening look at the biggest food safety challenges and how some of the leading food and beverage companies are working to address them.

Sustainability

As concerns about climate change become more prominent and industries around the world face tough targets to become more sustainable, the question on everyone’s mind is: how will these efforts impact issues such as food safety, supply chains and production costs?

As we strive for greater sustainability in our food system, are we at risk of putting food safety second? On day one, during our ‘Sustainability and food safety: friend or foe?’ panel session, our leading industry speakers will explore the potential risks that could come with a greener food system.

The Chief Science Officer of Mars and the Global Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Director of Nomad Foods have already been confirmed for this session, making it one of many sessions not to be missed.

Food fraud

Food fraud is a growing concern for consumers, regulators and businesses and poses significant risks to public health, economic integrity and trust in brands. Therefore, it was crucial that we highlight such a current challenge within our agenda.

This compelling panel debate brings together the Head of Food Safety – Chemical Contaminants and Packaging at Nestlé, the Professor of Food Supply Chain Integrity at University College Dublin and a representative from Marks & Spencer to tackle the multifaceted problem of food fraud. Over the course of this session, they will seek to dissect the current food fraud landscape, exploring innovative strategies for detection, prevention and enforcement.

And much more!

Of course, this is not all that day one of our agenda has to offer. Honorable mentions also go to our sessions ‘Cultured meat: future or fad?’, ‘Owens Law in Action’ and ‘Beyond the price tag: Unpacking the retail price bubble in food safety’, in which we will take the opportunity to delve deeper to address the important issues surrounding laboratory meat innovation, allergens and the cost structure of food production.
